Students will use the peer audit feedback and the information gleaned from the Headlines and Damage Control lessons to clean up their social media accounts.
Read the following to students:
You are now aware of the dangers associated with careless social media use and the impact it can have on your pursuit of education and careers after high school. You have received feedback from your peers about the reputation your current social media provides outsiders looking into your life. You have also been given tips on how to protect your contact information and minimize past poor posting choices as it relates to social media.
Applying all of that information, it is time to clean up your social media accounts by removing identifying personal information and/or any posts that reflect on you negatively. If you opt out of this assignment, understand you are taking a risk of unsafe and/or unsavory information being public for all to see on your social media. But, it is your choice nonetheless.
If you choose to complete this assignment, make sure you follow the checklist in the handout provided.
