Architects are in charge of designing new buildings. They create the ideas for new construction projects. Sometimes, they even develop new ways to use old buildings. Architects are creators and makers that bring their idea to life to build a more creative, accommodating, and efficient world. Architects must be creative, artistic, and detail-oriented. They must also be analytical, mathematically skilled, and have strong leadership skills. Their responsibilities include meeting with clients to discuss ideas, designing and drafting projects, and presenting project proposals. They also estimate the amount of materials needed and the cost of a project, research environmental impacts, and visit construction sites. Architects also prepare construction contracts, collaborate with construction professionals, as well as keeping up to date with architectural trends and advancements. Architects are required to have a bachelor’s degree in architecture for entrance level positions and a master degree for higher positions. Positions for architects are expected to increase by 8% by 2028.
