Bilingual Call Center Agent
Bilingual call center agents work in call centers, where they provide customer support for particular brands or companies in both English and a foreign language. They are contributors, connectors and organizers that need to be quick thinkers in two languages to handle issues effectively.
Their responsibilities include confirming customers’ language preferences, translating documents, answering questions and inquiries, and providing information. They need to be polite, flexible and empathetic in dealing with potentially unhappy – and unpleasant – customers. They have to be good at multi-tasking and knowledgeable about their company’s products or services to provide the best information and solutions.
Bilingual call center agents need to be either native speakers of a language other than English or hold a degree and be fluent in a foreign language. Jobs for all customer service reps are expected to decline -2% by 2029.
