Golf Course Designer
To the outsider, golf courses may not seem particularly designed. Aren’t they just 18 giants fields of grass with a few ponds and sand traps scattered around? But if you know golf, you know the layout, textures and eccentricities of a given course dramatically influence the game. Courses are also marvels of planning when you think about how much space in a city must be devoted to a single course and how little space is freely available in said cities. From fairways to course hazards to clubhouse placement, every part of a golf course is meticulously designed as a challenging, yet pleasing, yet navigable outdoor space. These hyper-specialized designers will need to work very hard to reach such a specialized place in their landscape architecture careers. They also need to understand the heck out of golf.
