Teachers have the challenging, yet rewarding job of teaching students. They can teach elementary, middle, or high school students in private or public schools. Teachers are responsible for educating and preparing our youth for the future. Teachers are leaders and connectors who work with and educate our youth. Teachers must be organized, creative, and adaptable. They must also have excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and good leadership skills. Their responsibilities include planning lessons, creating educational content (assignments, tests, etc), and giving lessons to class. Teachers also assist students in understanding class content; maintain a clean, fun, and engaging classroom; and evaluate students work. Additionally, they also run parent-teacher meetings, as well as prepare and distribute report cards. Teachers are required to have completed a bachelor’s degree as well as an additional degree or certification in education. The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics expects available positions for teachers to grow 4% between 2018 and 2028.
