Sales managers are responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a company’s sales team and ensuring that specific goals for revenue are being met. They do so by creating budgets, determining best practices, and strategizing marketing campaigns that will further promote their company’s products. They are organizers, competitors, and entrepreneurs that are often quick, calculated, and have a keen sense of what consumers want. They maintain an efficient work environment and coach underperforming staff members on areas of improvement.
Sales managers can be found in various industries. They are the ones calling the shots on what can be achieved and how much it will cost to do so. They are responsible for providing sales forecasts and making sure that the projected budget matches the actual outcome. Roles for sales managers usually require a minimum educational background of a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or management. The market for this role will grow 5% by 2028.
