Talent Manager
Talent managers develop and accelerate an artist’s career by helping them navigate the entertainment industry and make critical decisions that will shape their brand. Managers can’t afford to be shy, and use negotiating and organization skills daily on behalf of their clients. Experience is the best education for this industry! Talent managers are connectors that are comfortable working with a variety of people on a daily basis. Talent managers are good communicators that rely on building good relationships with others. They are also persuasive, dedicated, and strategic. They are responsible for scouting and evaluating new talent, and drafting and signing contracts with new talent. They also develop marketing strategies and find deals for their clients. Although it is not required, most talent agents hold a bachelor’s degree in marketing or management. Job growth for talent managers is projected at 10% for the decade ending in 2028.
It’s important to follow your intuition and trust the process along the way. Though it may be confusing, uncertain, or hard work at the start, if you trust your gut and put in the work it takes to get there, I’m confident you’ll end up in a better spot than where you initially started.
