“Whatever it is you choose to do, you have to love it so much that you would do it for free”
Yoga instructor Cheri Rae Russell believes there’s a certain magic about Los Angeles’ Peace Yoga Gallery. People walk in off the street not knowing they’ve found exactly what they need, she says. And that may be more than just Russell teaching them the perfect stretch or restorative workout. The Peace Yoga Gallery also functions as a raw-food restaurant and event space, tying together a broader mission of wellness.
Russell discovered yoga as a teenager. She was a figure skater who embraced the discipline after a serious knee injury, and she never left. She’s practiced yoga nearly every day since, considering it both an art and a method of fitness. Most classes at Peace Yoga Gallery end in deep meditation, too, quenching the patrons’ need for a bit of spiritual cleansing in addition to breaking a good sweat. Learn more in the video above.
