Eric Finley, the president and chief pilot of Orange County’s Luxcraft Aviation, never had dreams of flying as a kid — at least not at 30,000 feet. But he did like the wind in his hair, operating dirt bikes and boats from a young age, and eventually acclimating to planes in high school when his father was renewing a pilot’s license. At that point, planes were just another challenge for a vehicle-obsessed young man.
Now, Finley flies for individuals and corporations who own private aircrafts. Other than arrival and departure times, his is not a career with much regular structure. Finley could easily be flying weekends or holidays and sometimes finds himself in new cities for days at a time when he’s transporting clients.
