Liz Beecroft

Psychotherapist

“IT'S OKAY TO FEEL THE FEELS ”

Location

Brooklyn, NY

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, Liz Beecroft grew up with a love of sports, basketball in particular.  She struggled off and on with homesickness when she was a kid, and experienced this when she would attend sleepaway basketball camps. This experience is what first introduced her to therapy and the world of mental health (because her parents wanted to get me some support from a professional). She eventually overcame the homesickness, but later in college experienced symptoms of depression which brought her back to therapy. It was through this experience with her therapist in college that she gained insight into her aspirations to work in the mental health care field. Long story short — she wanted to be able to help others the same way her therapist helped her.

Following undergrad (Susquehanna University – Psychology major), she moved to NYC to begin the MSW program at NYU.  In 2016 she graduated and began her career as a therapist working as an FFT (Functional family therapist) for youth and their families involved in the juvenile justice system. After working in that position for 2 years, she was offered another job where she works as a mental health therapist for youth in the NYC foster care system. She provides CBT therapy and able to engage clients through art, entertainment, and love of sneakers.

Outside of her 9-5, she uses social media platforms to raise awareness on mental health as well as share her love of sneakers and style.  In 2019 she designed the “In My Feels” Air Max 270 React with Nike & Nikebyyou, which raised awareness on Mental Health and proceeds benefited The American Foundation For Suicide Prevention. She’s also been able to combine my passions of sneakers/streetwear and mental health by collaborating with various brands such as Sneakersnstuff, Jordan brand, Bleacher Report, HYPEBEAST, and more to promote mental health awareness in the sneaker community. She’s also currently working on launching my private practice later this year, which is a new chapter she’s really looking forward to.
