“Everything is going to be okay. Ask for help when you need it, and have a sense of humor!”
We won’t spoil the full story here (watch the video), but Sarah Ivory’s job is about solving problems — the kind of problems that occur when a company hands you a cup and you have to turn that cup into the talk of a party.
Ivory is the chief branding officer for the experiential marketing agency Self Employed. After years of working with celebrities, creating content for brands, and managing talent, her current job is to tell brands’ stories at the company she co-founded. But as much as she’s a storyteller, maybe she’s more like a translator. Each client presents its own products, and thus challenges, which means Ivory must figure out how to transform an object or rough idea into something fresh, exciting, and most importantly, memorable.

Internships and volunteer work are opportunities to learn not just about what you like, but what you don’t like.
